The Approach

Capel Cartref is situated next to the Post Office of Lower Cwm Twrch, immediately off the B4068.

To the side of the chapel is a tarmac public footpath plus private driveway to rear of Capel Cartref.

Two sturdy arched wooden gates allow access to and from garden 83" high x 40" wide

The Main Entrance

Capel Cartref has a front entrance with wide access - threshold 20mm H x 40mm D. Cars must park on the road outside the building for front access Garden’s front entrance is via silver, metal gates 49" wide. Gate bolt ‘keep’ on the floor in between the gates reaches a height of 20mm and is 30mm wide. The floor beyond the gate is laid to slab for the first 8’ Concrete ramp (77.5" wide) leads to the arched front door.

  • To the right side of the ramp is a loose grey stone path 36" wide.
  • The front doorway consists of two doors made of oak style pvc, providing an opening of 47".

The Vestibule

  • The vestibule is 52" deep and 95" wide - space for outdoor wear
  • Mat well, 17.5" from the front door, containing a brown, coir roll mat
  • Mat well 900mm wide x 600mm deep and is 11" from the next set of double doors.
  • Fire extinguisher fixed at 900mm from the floor.
  • A second set of double doors lead to the lounge where the floor changes from red tile to oak wood floorboards.
  • 4mm high strip of wood across the door’s threshold.
  • The door opening is 32".
  • The door handles are vertically positioned 39" from the floor;

The Ground Floor

General
  • Vestibule opens out into the lounge area 7.1m x 5m.
  • All doorway openings on the ground floor are 32"
  • Flooring on the ground floor level is mostly wooden apart from the kitchen and wet room.
  • No steps on this level, however, 3 doorways have a wooden strip rising up to 6mm - Hallway, Wetroom, Kitchen
  • All walls are either painted plain in either Magnolia, Egyptian Cotton or White emulsion.
  • All internal doors are thirty-minute check fire doors.
  • The doors are painted in white gloss and surrounded by architrave painted in dark wood-stain.
  • Light is accessed from large windows and electric lighting.
  • The ground floor corridor is 41" wide and 18’ long.

The First Floor

  • The first floor is accessed from the lounge via a set of wooden stairs
  • The first floor hallway measures 41" wide and 18’ long
  • The hallway and bedrooms are carpeted throughout in beige coloured plain twist
The Lounge

The main entrance to the lounge is via wide double doors leading from the vestibule. To the right are three sofas, a coffee table, TV and DVD that are all moveable. There is a hi-fi unit that accommodates the TV and DVD - the TV has tele-text for guests requiring subtitles.

  • Four arched windows positioned 40" from the floor - 39" wide and 6’ tall.
  • The walls are plain white, as are the internal doors leaving a strong contrast of colour between the floor, architrave, walls and doors.
  • Positioned to the left of centre of the lounge are the stairs which lead straight to the upstairs landing/gallery area.
  • The staircase is not enclosed therefore people can access the space beneath.
Ground Floor Corridor

The corridor leads off from the lounge, taking us through to the Store Room, Bedroom One, Bedroom Two, Wet Room, Kitchen/Diner and decking/garden access. The walls are painted magnolia and are a contrast to the architrave and skirting-board that is coloured using dark oak stain.

  • Access to building is via a set of four wooden steps with handrail either side
  • The doors are double glaze white PVC and they open inward to the kitchen. The vertical blinds must be pulled across before entrance is possible, therefore entrance via the front will be necessary if the blinds are left opened to the full extent of the doorway

The Garden

The garden is mostly laid to lawn with a loose grey stone path running the full length.
